
Give Kids The World Village is the only one of its kind in the world. As you get ready for your trip – here some fun facts to share with your family and friends:
- The Give Kids The World organization began in 1986. It was operated out of our founder, Henri Landwirth’s Hotel in Kissimmee, Florida.
- Give Kids The World Village opened in 1989.
- The Gingerbread House Restaurant serves breakfast and dinner 365 days a year to our visiting Wish families. Each year we serve 390,000 eggs, 218,400 slices of bacon, 4,000 pounds of pancake flour and 140,400 sausage links -and that’s just for breakfast! In 2008 we served 234,930 guests a delicious, hot breakfast!
- The tables in the Gingerbread House Restaurant feature over 27,000 peppermint candies that were all placed by hand.
- More than 2,030 dolls and stuffed animals decorate the Gingerbread House Restaurant – many were donated by Wish families.
- More than 100,000 families from all 50 states and over 70 countries have had their Wish vacation at Give Kids The World Village.
- There are more than 80,000 stars, each representing a Wish Child on the ceiling of the Castle of Miracles.
- Katie’s Kitchen serves more than 590 chickens a week to our Wish families – that is more than 30,780 a year!
- Our volunteers help make and deliver more than 23,000 pizzas a year.
- Our new pool, which opened in September 2009, requires more than 83,000 gallons of water
- Santa Claus visits Give Kids The World Village 52 times a year – and gives our Wish children and their brothers and sisters more than 18,000 toys and gifts.
